Thank you for visiting Jen K. 🎨 Art!
Jen is a Quadriplegic, with a Spinal Cord Injury at C5/C6. Since being injured in a car accident, in 2003, she's used painting as a creative release, in a way quite differently than she did previously. She finds it more therapeutic & rewarding with her limited mobility. Due to her limited hand function, she uses special adaptive devices, that help her hold onto her writing utensils & paint brushes, which help her create the artwork represented in the gallery.
While at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, she was in several therapy groups, beyond physical & occupational. One of her favorite groups was Art Therapy, where she was able to use her artistic background. The group dynamic was based on camaraderie & encouragement. Therapists, other group members & hospital staff were impressed & took notice of her work. She soon realized that painting made the outlook, on her future, a bit brighter.
Jen started giving paintings to family members, as gifts. They then started commissioning paintings from her. She makes additional income this way.
